Plot:
In 2009, American geologist Adrian Helmsley discovers that massive solar flares are causing the Earth's core temperature to rise rapidly, leading to unprecedented seismic activity and a catastrophic crust displacement event predicted for December 21, 2012. World leaders are informed and secretly initiate Project Ark, building colossal vessels capable of withstanding the impending global flood in the Himalayas.
As the doomsday date approaches, Jackson Curtis, a struggling science-fiction writer and limousine driver in Los Angeles, takes his children on a camping trip to Yellowstone National Park. There, he encounters eccentric radio host Charlie Frost, who reveals the government's secret plans and the imminent destruction. When the catastrophic events begin, Jackson races against time to save his ex-wife Kate, their children, and Kate's new boyfriend, Gordon, navigating a world collapsing around them. They embark on a perilous journey across the globe, seeking to reach the secret arks in China while escaping collapsing cities, mega-tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions, facing numerous close calls and sacrifices along the way. The film culminates in a desperate struggle to board the arks amidst a global deluge, challenging the characters' humanity and the moral implications of who deserves to survive.
