Plot:

The story begins with the Battle of Marathon, where Themistocles leads the Athenian forces to victory against the Persians, inadvertently setting in motion Xerxes' transformation into the God-King after the death of his father, King Darius I. Ten years later, as King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans make their stand at Thermopylae, Themistocles attempts to unite the Greek city-states to face the Persian navy, led by the formidable Artemisia, a Greek-born woman whose family was slaughtered by Greek hoplites, leading to her adoption by the Persians and her rise as a brilliant naval commander.

Themistocles engages Artemisia's fleet in a series of naval battles across the Aegean Sea, utilizing clever tactics to counter the larger Persian forces. Flashbacks reveal Artemisia's brutal upbringing and her unwavering loyalty to Xerxes and the Persian Empire. As the war intensifies, Themistocles seeks assistance from Queen Gorgo of Sparta, who is initially reluctant to commit her forces after the devastating loss at Thermopylae.
