Plot:

Max Skinner is a cynical and highly successful London bond trader whose life revolves around making money. Upon receiving news of his Uncle Henry's death, Max travels to Provence, France, to manage the inheritance of his uncle's chateau and vineyard, La Siroque. His sole intention is to quickly sell the property, which he believes is an old, dilapidated estate, and return to his lucrative career.

While in Provence, Max is frequently transported back to his childhood through a series of nostalgic flashbacks, recalling summers spent with his eccentric and wise Uncle Henry, who taught him about life, wine, and the simple pleasures. These memories begin to soften Max's hardened exterior. He encounters Fanny Chenal, a beautiful and spirited local café owner, and Christie Roberts, a young American woman who arrives claiming to be Uncle Henry's illegitimate daughter and therefore a rightful heir to the estate.

As Max navigates the complexities of the estate sale, potential buyers, and the competing claims, he slowly succumbs to the charm of the Provençal lifestyle and finds himself falling for Fanny. He also discovers that the vineyard might hold a secret: a small, extremely rare, and valuable vintage wine. Max is ultimately faced with a choice between his high-stakes London life and the tranquil, romantic existence offered by Provence and Fanny. He decides to embrace a simpler life, staying in Provence, running the vineyard, and finding happiness with Fanny, while ensuring Christie receives a fair share of the estate's value.
