Summary:

Plot:

The film opens with James Bowen, a homeless and drug-addicted street musician, struggling to make ends meet and maintain his recovery program. After a particularly difficult day, his support worker, Val, helps him secure a small flat. One evening, James discovers an injured ginger cat in his kitchen. Despite his initial reluctance and financial constraints, he takes the cat to a vet, spending almost all his money on its treatment and naming him Bob.

As James recovers from a relapse and Bob recovers from his injuries, an inseparable bond forms between them. Bob begins to accompany James everywhere, sitting on his shoulder while he busks and sells The Big Issue. Their unique presence quickly makes them a local sensation, drawing crowds and increasing James's earnings. However, their newfound fame also brings challenges, including scrutiny from animal welfare services and the constant struggle against James's past addiction, until a book deal offers them a chance at a new beginning.
