These monstrous beings hunted by "sensing" fear, their predatory instincts honed to perfection.
The Ranger Corps, a global peacekeeping organization, valiantly fought to defend Nova Prime. They developed a revolutionary technique called "ghosting," a method of suppressing fear that proved effective against the Ursas. Despite their valiant efforts, the S'krell onslaught was fierce. In the midst of the chaos, Senshi, the beloved daughter of Ranger Corps leader Cypher Raige, fell victim to an Ursa attack.
The loss of his sister plunged young Kitai, just thirteen years old, into a profound grief. He vowed to honor Senshi's memory by following in his father's footsteps, becoming a Ranger and protecting Nova Prime from future threats. However, his application to the Ranger Corps was met with rejection, his youth and inexperience deemed insufficient.
Devastated but undeterred, Kitai sought solace in his father's company. Recognizing his son's determination and the need for closure, Cypher, on the verge of retirement, agreed to take Kitai on his final voyage. However, their journey was tragically cut short when their spaceship was caught in a devastating asteroid shower, forcing an emergency crash landing on Earth – a planet humanity had abandoned a millennium ago due to an environmental cataclysm.
The crash left Cypher severely injured, his legs shattered. Their situation was dire. The main beacon, their lifeline to Nova Prime, was damaged. Cypher, drawing upon his vast experience, instructed Kitai to locate the tail section of the ship, which had separated during re-entry. At the last moment, the condor, his captor, swooped down, shielding him from the frigid blast, ultimately sacrificing itself to save him.
Finally, Kitai reached the tail section of the ship. However, his elation was short-lived. The atmosphere interfered with the beacon signal, leaving him stranded. To his horror, he discovered that the Ursa that had attacked their ship had survived the crash and had killed the rest of the crew.

As he ascended, the Ursa, drawn by an unknown instinct, began to stalk him.
