Summary:

Plot:

Ali Jahani, a teenager fleeing the turmoil of the Iranian Revolution, arrives in Petaluma, California, to live with his estranged uncle. He faces immediate challenges, including a language barrier, cultural shock, and hostile classmates who mock his heritage. Feeling isolated and alone, Ali struggles to find his place, often getting into fights and facing disciplinary action from Principal Skinner.

Principal Skinner, seeing potential in Ali, encourages him to join the school's struggling wrestling team, led by Coach McGregory. Despite his initial reluctance and lack of experience, Ali discovers a natural aptitude for the sport. Through rigorous training and the mentorship of his coach, Ali begins to transform, not only physically but emotionally. He learns discipline, teamwork, and how to channel his anger into competitive drive. As he climbs the ranks in the wrestling world, Ali confronts his past, battles prejudice, and ultimately strives to win the state championship, hoping to earn respect and prove that he belongs.
