Plot:
Hiro Hamada, a 14-year-old robotics genius, spends his time participating in illegal robot fights in the city of San Fransokyo. His older brother, Tadashi, encourages him to apply to the prestigious San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, where Tadashi is a student. Hiro invents "microbots," tiny, telepathically controlled robots that can form any structure, impressing Professor Robert Callaghan. However, a fire breaks out at the university showcase, killing Tadashi and Professor Callaghan, and Hiro's microbots are seemingly destroyed.
Grieving, Hiro accidentally activates Baymax, Tadashi's personal healthcare companion robot. Baymax discovers one of Hiro's microbots still functional, leading them to an abandoned warehouse where a masked villain is mass-producing Hiro's microbots. Realizing the villain survived the fire and stole his invention, Hiro, Baymax, and Tadashi's friends – Go Go Tomago, Wasabi, Honey Lemon, and Fred – form a superhero team. They develop advanced suits and abilities based on their scientific skills to confront the villain, who they identify as Professor Callaghan, seeking revenge for his daughter's presumed death in a teleportation experiment.
