Summary:

Bhoominathan, a simple and sincere young man, is hired as a bodyguard for Meera, the daughter of a powerful and feared landlord who is on the hitlist of a rival gang. Despite their initial clashes, Meera plays a prank on Bhoominathan by pretending to be in love with a stranger on the phone, a secret admirer named "Rowdy." Her prank backfires when she falls in love with Bhoominathan herself, and he falls for the "Rowdy" on the phone. Detailed Plot (Movie Story):

The film introduces Bhoominathan (Vijay), a young man who holds a deep admiration for a powerful and benevolent landlord, Muthuramalingam (Rajkiran). To thank him for a past act of kindness, Bhoominathan offers his services as a bodyguard to Muthuramalingam. The landlord, seeing Bhoominathan's sincerity, hires him to protect his daughter, Meera (Asin Thottumkal), who is currently living in a college hostel. Muthuramalingam is a feared and respected figure, but his family is under constant threat from his rival, Veeramani (Rajiv Krishna), who has been trying to kill them for years.

Bhoominathan, with his innocent and slightly naive personality, takes his job seriously, much to Meera's annoyance. She finds him overprotective and tries to get rid of him. To test his loyalty and get him to leave, she and her friend, Madhu (Mithra Kurian), decide to play a prank on him.

Using a borrowed mobile phone, Meera starts calling Bhoominathan, pretending to be a girl named "Rowdy," a secret admirer who claims to have fallen in love with him. Bhoominathan, unaware of the prank, begins to reciprocate the feelings of this mysterious "Rowdy." He shares his dreams and emotions with the girl on the phone, falling deeply in love with her.

The plot becomes a classic comedy of errors. Meera, watching Bhoominathan's genuine affection for "Rowdy," starts to fall in love with him herself. She tries to confess her true identity to him, but circumstances and a series of misunderstandings prevent her from doing so. Madhu also develops a crush on Bhoominathan, which adds to the romantic confusion.

Meanwhile, the threat from Veeramani and his gang intensifies. They make several attempts on Meera's life, but Bhoominathan, with his formidable fighting skills, protects her every time. His dedication earns him the respect of both Meera and her father.

In the climax, Bhoominathan is injured in a confrontation with Veeramani's men. Believing that he is dying, he calls the "Rowdy" on the phone, confessing his love and saying his final goodbyes. Meera, heartbroken, finally confesses that she is "Rowdy." However, Bhoominathan, who is now well, is furious that she played with his feelings. He is also told by Madhu that she was the one on the phone, and he believes her. This misunderstanding drives a wedge between Bhoominathan and Meera.

The film's final act reveals a tragic twist. Years later, Bhoominathan is married to Madhu, and they have a son. He is still working for Muthuramalingam and lives a content life, believing that Madhu was his "Rowdy." In a final emotional scene, Muthuramalingam reveals the truth to Bhoominathan through a recorded phone call, proving that Meera was the real "Rowdy." However, Bhoominathan arrives at a location only to discover that Meera, who has been waiting for him for years, has passed away.
