Plot:

In 1993, the small community of West Memphis, Arkansas, is rocked by the brutal murders of three eight-year-old boys. Under immense pressure to solve the horrific crime, local authorities quickly target three teenagers known for their interest in heavy metal music and non-conformist style: Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley Jr. Despite a lack of physical evidence directly linking them to the murders, the community's fear and a narrative of satanic ritual abuse, fueled by sensational media coverage, lead to their arrest and a highly publicized trial.

The narrative follows Ron Lax, a private investigator who, disturbed by the apparent injustices, dedicates his time pro bono to uncovering the truth. Simultaneously, Pam Hobbs, the grieving mother of victim Stevie Branch, initially believes in the guilt of the "West Memphis Three" but slowly starts to doubt the official story as inconsistencies emerge. The film meticulously details the flawed police investigation, coerced confessions, and the devastating impact of a prejudiced legal system on the accused, their families, and the victims' loved ones, all while hinting at alternative suspects and the lingering uncertainty of what truly happened.
