Plot:
Anna Khitrova, a midwife at a London hospital, delivers a baby whose 14-year-old mother dies during childbirth. Among the girl's belongings, Anna finds a diary written in Russian. Driven by a desire to find the baby's family, Anna seeks help translating the diary, which reveals a disturbing history of sexual slavery and violence orchestrated by the Vory v Zakone crime syndicate, specifically implicating Semyon, the seemingly benevolent owner of a Russian restaurant, and his volatile son Kirill.
Anna's efforts to uncover the truth lead her deeper into the dangerous world of the Vory, where she encounters Nikolai Luzhin, Semyon's stoic and efficient driver and "cleaner." As Anna pieces together the diary's contents, she becomes a target, forcing Nikolai to protect her while secretly navigating his own complex role within the crime family. The narrative builds to a series of violent confrontations, revealing Nikolai's true identity and culminating in a tense power struggle that reshapes the future of the criminal organization.
