Plot:

The film opens with a young Michael "Eddie" Edwards, who, despite various physical ailments and a lack of athletic prowess, is determined to become an Olympian. After failing at numerous summer sports, he discovers ski jumping and dedicates himself to the sport, much to the dismay of his pragmatic father and the amusement of others. He travels to a training facility in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, where he is met with ridicule and ostracized by the professional ski jumpers.

There, Eddie encounters Bronson Peary, a former American ski jumping prodigy now working as a snow groomer, whose career was cut short by his rebellious attitude.
