Plot:

Adam Bell, a detached and uninspired university professor, lives a repetitive existence in Toronto with his girlfriend, Mary. One evening, on a recommendation, he watches a obscure film and is stunned to see a minor actor, Anthony Claire, who is his spitting image. Initially dismissing it, Adam's curiosity turns into an obsession, compelling him to meticulously track down Anthony's personal information.

Adam eventually contacts Anthony, leading to an awkward and tense meeting between the two men. Anthony, initially enraged by Adam's intrusion, becomes intrigued and then increasingly manipulative, demanding to meet Adam's girlfriend, Mary. The doppelgängers begin to subtly infiltrate each other's lives, causing confusion and distress for their respective partners, Mary and Anthony's pregnant wife, Helen. The film's narrative becomes increasingly surreal, punctuated by recurring imagery of spiders and a growing sense of claustrophobia and paranoia, as the boundaries between their identities dissolve and a struggle for dominance ensues, culminating in a profoundly ambiguous and disturbing conclusion that challenges the audience's perception of reality.
