Plot:

Ash Williams, his girlfriend Linda, sister Cheryl, and friends Scotty and Shelly embark on a trip to a secluded cabin in rural Tennessee. Upon arrival, they discover the cabin's cellar door mysteriously opens. Inside, they find an ancient book, the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, and a reel-to-reel tape recorder. Playing the tape, they hear an archaeologist's incantations from the book, which inadvertently awakens a malevolent entity in the surrounding woods.

Cheryl is the first to be attacked and possessed, becoming a "Deadite" and terrorizing the others. The demon systematically possesses the other friends, transforming them into monstrous, taunting figures. Ash is forced into increasingly horrific acts of self-defense, including dismembering his possessed loved ones. As the night progresses, the cabin becomes a blood-soaked battleground. Scotty attempts to flee but is severely injured, returning to the cabin only to succumb to his wounds. Ash, the sole survivor, must confront the full power of the Kandarian Demon, ultimately attempting to destroy the Necronomicon to banish the evil. The film concludes with Ash seemingly victorious, only for the unseen entity to charge at him, leaving his fate ambiguous.
