Summary:

A popular college student's life takes a horrifying turn when she unfriends a mysterious and socially awkward girl on social media. After the girl commits suicide, a demonic entity tied to her online profile begins to torment the student and her closest friends, systematically killing them off while spreading its curse through the very social media platform they use.

Plot:

Laura Woodson is a popular college student with a seemingly perfect life and many online friends. She receives a friend request from Marina Mills, a strange and reclusive classmate with a dark social media profile. Feeling pity, Laura accepts. Marina quickly becomes obsessive, constantly messaging Laura and becoming distraught when Laura doesn't respond immediately. After Marina posts a disturbing video of self-harm, Laura decides to unfriend her. Marina confronts Laura in person, then commits suicide, uploading a video of her death to her profile, which Laura is forced to watch.

Soon after Marina's death, strange things begin to happen. Marina's profile reactivates, posting disturbing images and videos, and Laura's friends start to die in gruesome ways, each death appearing to be a suicide and occurring shortly after Marina's profile tags them in a post. Laura discovers that Marina was involved in black magic and that a powerful demonic entity, a "black shuck" that feeds on isolation and loneliness, is now attached to Marina's profile. The entity uses the profile to spread its curse, isolating Laura from her remaining friends and turning them against her. As Laura races against time to delete Marina's profile and stop the entity, she finds herself increasingly isolated, her own online presence becoming a weapon against her, leading to a chilling and tragic conclusion where the curse continues to spread.
