Summary:

Five childhood best friends reunite after thirty years to mourn the passing of their beloved youth basketball coach. They decide to spend a Fourth of July weekend together at a lake house, the same place they celebrated their championship victory decades earlier.

As the friends and their families converge, they discover that while they may have grown older, some have yet to truly grow up. Amidst reminiscing, old rivalries, and new challenges, they attempt to recapture the magic of their youth and teach their children valuable life lessons about friendship, family, and the importance of having fun.

Plot:

Lenny Feder, Eric Lamonsoff, Kurt McKenzie, Marcus Higgins, and Rob Hilliard were inseparable childhood friends who won a YMCA basketball championship in 1978. Thirty years later, the news of their revered coach Robert "Buzzer" Ferdinando's death brings them back together for his funeral. Lenny, now a successful Hollywood agent, reluctantly brings his wife Roxanne and their children from Los Angeles to his New England hometown, reuniting with his old friends and their diverse families.

After the funeral, the friends decide to rent a lake house for the Fourth of July weekend, the same place they had celebrated their championship victory as kids. Over the course of the chaotic holiday, the men reflect on their adult lives, confront past insecurities, and navigate the complexities of parenthood and middle age. They engage in various humorous attempts to relive their youthful antics, often with disastrous but ultimately heartwarming results, as they rediscover the enduring bond of their friendship and learn to appreciate the present.
