Summary:
Ishaan, a self-centered music producer living a privileged life and taking his girlfriend, family, and job for granted, is abruptly thrown out by his fed-up girlfriend. As his life crumbles, he moves into a new apartment and finds an unexpected mentor in his free-spirited neighbor, Gauri. Through Gauri's influence, Ishaan begins to mature and understand the importance of relationships, leading him to confront his past mistakes and redefine his understanding of love and responsibility.
Plot:
The film revolves around Ishaan Sabharwal (John Abraham), a handsome, charming, but extremely self-obsessed music producer in Mumbai. He lives a sheltered and privileged life, largely due to being the apple of his mother Nisha's (Zarina Wahab) eye and always protected by his elder sister, Shivani (Mini Mathur). Ishaan is in a live-in relationship with his successful lawyer girlfriend, Anushka Lal (Chitrangada Singh), whose plush apartment he shares. He takes everyone in his life—his mother, sister, and especially Anushka—completely for granted, often neglecting his responsibilities and openly flirting with other women.
Anushka, despite her love for Ishaan, eventually reaches her breaking point. Fed up with his immaturity, irresponsibility, and flirtatious nature, she kicks him out of her house. This sudden eviction marks the beginning of Ishaan's fall from grace. He is forced to move into a smaller, somewhat dilapidated apartment, a stark contrast to his previous comfortable life.
Adding to his woes, his professional life also takes a hit. His new boss, Beena Chandok (Raima Sen), who has different visions for the music company, makes his work difficult and eventually asks him to resign. His ego is severely bruised, and his confidence is shaken as his seemingly perfect world crumbles.
At this low point, his new neighbor, Gauri Dandekar (Prachi Desai), enters his life. Gauri is a bubbly, free-spirited stylist who, unlike others, doesn't immediately tolerate Ishaan's self-centeredness. She sees through his facade and challenges his self-absorbed perspective. Through her straightforwardness and positive outlook, Gauri gradually begins to teach Ishaan the importance of genuine relationships, responsibility, and considering others' feelings.
Under Gauri's influence, Ishaan starts to mature. He begins to take initiative in mending his past relationships, including trying to reconcile with his sister and his mother, who also moves in with him after a separation from his father. Gauri encourages him to pursue his passion for music independently and even helps him launch his own music company, finding and promoting new talent like a young singer named Amala (Sheena Shahabadi).
As Ishaan genuinely transforms into a better person, he finds himself falling deeply in love with Gauri. Their romance blossoms, and they plan a future together, with Gauri getting a scholarship to Paris.
However, Ishaan's past soon catches up with him. He learns a shocking truth: Anushka is pregnant with his child. Anushka, initially deciding not to tell him due to his past behavior, now faces the reality of her pregnancy. Shivani urges her to inform Ishaan.
This revelation forces Ishaan to confront his past irresponsibility head-on. On the day of his big music launch, Anushka goes into labor. Ishaan, recognizing his paternal responsibility, chooses to rush Anushka to the hospital, putting his career aspirations second for the first time. He is present for the birth of their daughter.
Gauri, understanding the situation, makes the selfless decision to leave for Paris alone, acknowledging Ishaan's newfound responsibility and the gravity of his bond with his child.
The film concludes eight months later. Ishaan is seen happily raising his daughter, Diya, and has fully embraced his role as a responsible father. He is still in touch with Gauri, who is set to return from Paris, hinting at a possible future reunion, but the emphasis remains on Ishaan's personal growth. Anushka, meanwhile, has moved on and is happily married to another man, finding her own peace. The film showcases Ishaan's journey from a narcissistic "I, Me Aur Main" personality to a more mature and responsible individual who finally understands the true meaning of love, family, and commitment.
