Idiot (2002)

Summary:

Chanti, a carefree and somewhat eccentric young man, falls instantly in love with Suchitra after she rescues him from a beating and pays his hospital bills, even though he hasn't seen her face. When he finally meets her, she turns out to be the daughter of the strict and powerful city Police Commissioner, Vipra Narayana. The film then chronicles Chanti's persistent, often audacious, attempts to win Suchitra's heart and overcome her father's vehement opposition, all while maintaining his unique "care-a-damn" attitude.

Detailed Plot (Movie Story):

The film introduces Bhaskar Rao, alias Chanti (Ravi Teja), a young man with a rebellious and carefree attitude, known for his mischievous nature. He is the son of Head Constable Venkata Swamy (Kota Srinivasa Rao).

One night, Chanti gets into a fight with a rival gang and is severely beaten. He is found and rescued by a kind-hearted young woman, Suchitra, alias Suchi (Rakshita), who takes him to the hospital, pays his bills, and even donates her blood. She leaves before Chanti regains consciousness, so he doesn't see her face. However, upon learning about her good deed from his friends, Chanti immediately falls in love with her, purely based on her compassionate act.

Chanti begins a determined search for his mysterious savior. He eventually finds her at a college and, without any hesitation, walks up to her and boldly declares, "I love you." Suchitra is taken aback by his directness and carefree attitude and does not reciprocate his feelings, initially finding him irritating.

The twist in the tale comes when it's revealed that Suchitra is the daughter of the city's strict and influential Police Commissioner, Vipra Narayana (Prakash Raj). Vipra Narayana is fiercely protective of his daughter and is immediately opposed to Chanti due to his background, his audacious behavior, and his father being a mere head constable.

The rest of the film revolves around Chanti's persistent and often comedic efforts to win Suchitra's love and defy her father's authority. His methods are unconventional, sometimes bordering on harassment, but are portrayed in a lighthearted manner consistent with his "idiot" persona (which refers to his seemingly senseless and fearless actions for love). He gives sleepless nights to Vipra Narayana, consistently showing up where he's not wanted, teasing Suchitra, and creating chaotic situations.

Suchitra, initially annoyed, gradually begins to be swayed by Chanti's unwavering determination and the sincerity that underlies his seemingly foolish actions. A pivotal scene involves her challenging him to jump from a building to prove his love, and he agrees, shocking her into realizing the depth of his feelings.

Vipra Narayana, determined to separate them, resorts to various means, including hiring goons to beat up Chanti. However, Chanti always manages to overcome these obstacles, often with a humorous twist. The conflict escalates, leading to more dramatic confrontations between Chanti and Vipra Narayana.

In the climax, Vipra Narayana tries to arrange Suchitra's marriage to another person. Suchitra openly opposes this and even attempts to commit suicide to escape the forced marriage. Chanti arrives to rescue her. The narrative culminates with Chanti overcoming all hurdles, eventually seeking the help of the DGP (Director General of Police), Seetha Ramaiah (Kaikala Satyanarayana), to ensure his marriage to Suchitra. The film ends on a triumphant note for Chanti, as he not only wins Suchitra's hand but also fulfills his ambition, hinted to be becoming an IPS officer himself.
