INSIDIOUS (2010)

Summary:

After moving into a new house, the Lambert family's son, Dalton, inexplicably falls into a coma. What initially appears to be a medical mystery soon devolves into a terrifying ordeal as the family discovers that Dalton's spirit has become trapped in an astral dimension known as "The Further," making his physical body vulnerable to malevolent entities seeking to cross into the living world.

As the supernatural occurrences intensify and threaten their family, parents Josh and Renai are forced to seek help from a paranormal investigator and her team. They uncover a dark secret about Dalton's unique ability to astral project and must confront the terrifying spirits, including a powerful demon, to rescue their son's soul before it's too late, all while battling a hidden family legacy.

Plot:

Josh and Renai Lambert move into a new home with their children, Dalton, Foster, and Cali. Dalton explores the attic, falls, and the next day, inexplicably enters a coma. Doctors find no medical cause. Soon after, strange events begin: objects move, voices are heard, and Renai sees a demonic figure. Believing the house is haunted, they move, but the paranormal activity follows them, escalating in intensity and targeting Dalton's comatose body.

Desperate, Renai's mother, Lorraine, calls in paranormal investigators Specs and Tucker, who bring in the medium Elise Rainier. Elise reveals that Dalton is not in a coma but is an astral projector whose spirit has wandered too far into "The Further," a purgatorial dimension. Various spirits, particularly a red-faced demon, are attempting to possess his empty body. She also reveals that Josh possesses the same ability, having been haunted by an old woman in his childhood. Elise guides Josh to astral project into The Further to retrieve Dalton. Josh succeeds, bringing Dalton back to his body, but as Elise takes a photo of Josh, she realizes the old woman has possessed him. Josh then strangles Elise to death, and Renai finds Elise's body and Josh, who stares blankly at her, now fully possessed.
