Summary:

Plot:

Lucas, recently divorced, is making a fresh start as a kindergarten teacher and is well-liked by both children and parents in his tight-knit rural community. His best friend, Theo, is a prominent figure in the town, and Lucas is close with Theo's young daughter, Klara. One day, after Klara is upset by Lucas's gentle correction, she fabricates a story about Lucas exposing himself to her. Klara's vague and hesitant account is taken seriously by the head of the kindergarten, Grethe, who immediately reports it to social services and the police, despite Klara later retracting it.

The accusation rapidly spreads through the small town, and Lucas is swiftly suspended from his job. The community, fueled by fear and outrage, turns against him. His friends distance themselves, he is banned from local shops, his dog is killed, and he faces physical assaults. Even Theo struggles to believe him, initially siding with his family and the town's consensus. As Lucas desperately tries to clear his name, he finds himself isolated and demonized, with the justice system unable to prove his innocence in the face of widespread public condemnation. The film culminates in a tense confrontation in the local church, where Lucas demands an apology, but the deep-seated mistrust remains, leaving a permanent scar on his life and the community.
