Summary:

Vetrivel "Velu" Singamuthu, a car racer, learns his supposedly deceased father is alive and held as a bonded laborer in Andhra Pradesh by a dangerous diamond smuggler named Koccha. Velu travels to Malaysia as a contraband carrier ("Kuruvi") to settle his father's debt with Koccha. Circumstances lead him to steal a valuable diamond from Koccha and flee back to India, with Koccha's sister Devi, who has fallen in love with him, in tow. When Koccha threatens his family, Velu discovers the truth about his father and embarks on a mission to rescue him and expose Koccha's illegal activities.

Plot:

Vetrivel alias Velu (Vijay) is a charismatic car racer living with his large family in Chennai. They believe his father, Singamuthu (Manivannan), died while working at a colliery in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh. However, Velu learns that his father is alive and being held captive by Koccha (Suman), a powerful Malaysia-based crime boss to whom his father supposedly owes a large sum of money.

Determined to settle this debt and protect his family's home, Velu, along with his friend Aaps (Vivek), travels to Malaysia as a "Kuruvi" – a low-level contraband carrier. They arrive amidst internal conflict within Koccha's family; his younger sister, Radhadevi alias Devi (Trisha Krishnan), is being forced to marry Soori (Ashish Vidyarthi), the brother of Konda Reddy, Koccha's business associate in Kadapa.

Koccha, preoccupied with his family issues, mistreats Velu and dismisses his concerns about the debt. Determined to resolve his father's issue before returning to India, Velu secretly stays at Koccha's residence. On New Year's Eve, while saving Devi from an accident, they develop feelings for each other. Velu then steals a valuable diamond owned by Koccha, believing it will cover his father's debt, and returns to India with Aaps. Unbeknownst to him, Devi also follows him to Chennai, having fallen in love.

Upon discovering the theft, Koccha and his gang arrive in Chennai and threaten Velu's family, demanding the diamond's return. During this confrontation, Velu learns the shocking truth: his father is alive and held as a bonded laborer in Kadapa along with many others. Singamuthu had discovered illegal diamond mining at the colliery by Koccha and Konda Reddy and refused to cooperate, leading to his imprisonment.

Velu immediately leaves for Kadapa. He encounters Koccha again and, in a dramatic sequence, throws him onto a moving train, paralyzing him. Velu then discovers a brutal slave camp run by Koccha and Konda Reddy, where a ruthless goon named Kadapa Raja (likely a henchman of Konda Reddy) tortures the inmates, including his father.

With the help of his uncle Elango (Ilavarasu), Velu infiltrates Koccha's mansion on the eve of Devi's forced marriage to Soori. Devi, who is now helping Velu, reveals that Koccha's fingerprint is the password to his laptop. Velu unlocks the laptop and discovers evidence of Koccha and his associates' illegal diamond mining and possession of secret government documents.

On the wedding day, Velu paralyzes Soori by causing him to be stung by bees, stopping the unwanted marriage. He then single-handedly confronts Konda Reddy, Kadapa Raja, and their numerous henchmen, engaging in intense action sequences and ultimately killing them all.

Velu drags Konda Reddy's dead body back to Koccha's mansion. The paralyzed Koccha recovers upon seeing his associate's demise and attempts to shoot Velu. However, at that moment, a Special Task Force officer named Raj (Nassar) arrives and arrests Koccha. Raj reveals that Velu had forwarded all the incriminating information from Koccha's laptop to them.

Finally, Singamuthu and the other imprisoned laborers are freed and reunited with their families. Velu and Devi also unite, their love story culminating amidst the resolution of the central conflict.
