Plot:

Seventeen-year-old Juno MacGuff, a quick-witted and somewhat cynical high school junior, discovers she is pregnant after a casual encounter with her best friend, Paulie Bleeker. After considering an abortion, Juno decides against it and instead chooses to carry the baby to term and give it up for adoption. With the help of her supportive stepmother, Bren, and father, Mac, she finds an affluent couple, Mark and Vanessa Loring, through a local newspaper advertisement, who are eager to adopt.

As Juno's pregnancy progresses, she develops an unusual bond with the Lorings, particularly with Mark, a musician with whom she shares a love for punk rock and horror films. This connection, however, begins to highlight the cracks in Mark and Vanessa's seemingly perfect marriage. Meanwhile, Juno's relationship with Paulie evolves from a casual friendship into something deeper as he consistently demonstrates his care and affection for her, despite her initial emotional distance.

Towards the end of her pregnancy, Mark reveals to Juno that he is leaving Vanessa, shattering Juno's plans for a two-parent adoption. Upset but resilient, Juno confronts Vanessa, who expresses her deep desire to be a mother, even alone. Juno ultimately decides to give the baby to Vanessa. After giving birth, Juno and Paulie reconcile, cementing their relationship as she watches Vanessa embrace her new role as a mother, finding a mature understanding of love and family.
