Summary:

Kaalidhar, a middle-aged man suffering from early-onset dementia and memory loss, is abandoned by his financially struggling and self-serving siblings at the Kumbh Mela. Heartbroken by their betrayal, he decides to disappear and finds an unexpected bond with Ballu, an eight-year-old street-smart orphan. Together, they embark on a journey of self-discovery and ticking off Kaalidhar's whimsical bucket list, while his brothers, now in debt, desperately try to find him for their own motives.

Detailed Plot (Movie Story):

The film centers on Kaalidhar (Abhishek Bachchan), a middle-aged bachelor who is diagnosed with early-onset dementia and experiences increasing episodes of memory loss and hallucinations. His younger brothers, Manohar (Vishwanath Chatterjee) and Sundar (Priyank Tiwari), and their sister-in-law, Neetu (Madhulika Jatoliya), are burdened by his medical expenses and secretly hope for his demise so they can sell the family property, which is in his name, and clear their debts.

Hatching a cruel plan, the brothers take Kaalidhar to the massive Kumbh Mela, intending to abandon him there amidst the throngs of people, making it impossible for him to find his way back. They even lodge a complaint at the "lost and found" office as a facade of concern, but provide no real assistance to ensure he remains missing.

However, Kaalidhar, despite his memory issues, overhears his family discussing their relief at having "lost" him, and how they can't afford his medical treatment. Heartbroken and feeling utterly betrayed, Kaalidhar makes a conscious decision to truly disappear. He boards the first bus he can find, aiming to get as far away from them as possible.

He finds shelter for the night at a temple near a village called Bhojpur. It is here that he encounters Ballu (Daivik Bhagela), a clever, street-smart, and courageous eight-year-old orphan who lives around the temple. Despite an initially rocky start, where Ballu tries to trouble Kaalidhar, the two soon form an unlikely but deep and heartwarming friendship. Both dealing with their own experiences of abandonment, they find comfort and a sense of family in each other. Ballu takes Kaalidhar under his wing, giving him the nickname "KD."

Ballu helps Kaalidhar create a "wishlist" of things he's always wanted to do but never got to, including simple joys like having a lifelong supply of biryani, riding a bike, dancing in a baraat, trying "English" alcohol, and meeting his first love, Meera (Nimrat Kaur). Together, they embark on a whimsical journey, ticking off items from this list, bringing a sense of unbridled joy and purpose to Kaalidhar's life. The film highlights their bond as the emotional core, where a forgotten man finds a new reason to live through the eyes of a spirited child.

Meanwhile, Kaalidhar's brothers, now deeper in debt, realize they desperately need him to resolve their financial mess. They return to the "lost and found" officer, Subodh (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub), to convince him to resume the search for Kaalidhar. Subodh, who also has his own selfish motives, agrees to track him down. The story then follows the parallel paths of Kaalidhar and Ballu's adventures, and the brothers' frantic search.

The film explores themes of familial betrayal, the resilience of the human spirit, the healing power of unexpected friendships, and finding happiness in the simplest of moments. While Kaalidhar's dementia is the catalyst for the plot, the film tends to conveniently overlook its severity as he progresses, focusing more on his emotional journey. The narrative culminates with Kaalidhar's eventual return home, confronting his family, and seeking a definitive closure to his past, while cementing his bond with Ballu.
