Katamarayudu (2017)

Summary:

Katamarayudu is a Telugu remake of the Tamil film Veeram. The story is centered on Katamarayudu, a powerful and highly respected village leader from Rayalaseema who is fiercely protective of his four younger brothers and is staunchly against the idea of marriage, believing a wife would create disharmony in their family. When his brothers plot to get him to fall in love with a soft-spoken woman named Avanthika to secure their own marriages, Katamarayudu must try to shed his violent ways to win her heart and, eventually, protect her family from a dangerous criminal seeking revenge.

Detailed Plot (Movie Story):

Katamarayudu (Pawan Kalyan) is an influential and well-regarded faction leader in a village. He lives with his four younger brothers, whom he loves unconditionally. His aversion to marriage is the biggest hurdle for his brothers, all of whom have secret girlfriends. The brothers devise a plan to get Katamarayudu to fall in love with Avanthika (Shruti Haasan), an honest and peaceful woman, believing that if he marries, they will get his permission for their own weddings.

The brothers successfully orchestrate meetings between Katamarayudu and Avanthika, and he eventually falls for her. When he goes to meet her family, he discovers that her father, Bhupathi (Nassar), a retired judge, strongly despises violence. To win the approval of Avanthika and her family, Katamarayudu decides to renounce his violent ways and, along with his brothers, adopts a clean-shaven, non-violent persona.

However, the change is short-lived. Katamarayudu soon learns that Bhupathi and his family are under threat from a ruthless convict named Yelasari Bhanu (Tarun Arora), who is seeking revenge against the judge for a past case. Katamarayudu is secretly forced to resort to his old, violent methods to protect them without revealing his true nature to Avanthika's family.

The final conflict arises when his attempts to maintain secrecy fail, and Avanthika witnesses his violence, causing her and her father to reject him. Ultimately, when Bhanu makes a final, deadly move to kidnap Avanthika and her family, Katamarayudu is forced to abandon his pretense. He single-handedly confronts the villains, saves the family, and reveals the extent of the sacrifice and risk he took to protect them. Bhupathi, realizing the honorable nature of Katamarayudu's violence, finally accepts him, and the film concludes with the marriages of Katamarayudu and his brothers.
