Plot:

After a fierce storm, a man finds himself marooned on a remote, uninhabited island. He repeatedly tries to escape by building rafts from bamboo, but each time, his raft is destroyed by an unseen force from beneath the water. Determined to find the cause, he eventually discovers a massive red turtle responsible for his thwarted escapes. In a moment of frustration and anger, he attacks the turtle, leaving it overturned on the beach, seemingly dead.

To his astonishment, the red turtle transforms into a woman. They fall in love and build a life together on the island, raising a son who grows up connected to both his human and natural heritage. The family experiences the joys and challenges of island life, witnessing the beauty and harshness of nature, including tsunamis and the migration of sea creatures. As time passes, they grow old, and the film beautifully portrays the full cycle of their lives and their deep connection to the island and each other, culminating in a poignant conclusion.
