LET ME IN (2010)
Summary:
A lonely and bullied 12-year-old boy, Owen, living in Los Alamos, New Mexico, in 1983, finds an unexpected and profound friendship with Abby, a mysterious young girl who has just moved into the apartment next door. As Owen grapples with his absent father, an alcoholic mother, and relentless torment from school bullies, Abby encourages him to stand up for himself. Their bond deepens amidst a series of gruesome murders in the town, which Owen slowly realizes are connected to Abby's true, ancient nature as a vampire. Despite the horrifying truth, their unique connection transcends the boundaries of life and death.

Plot:
In the winter of 1983, 12-year-old Owen is a social outcast, frequently bullied at school and neglected at home. He fantasizes about revenge against his tormentors and spies on his neighbors. His routine is disrupted when Abby, a pale and enigmatic girl, moves into the adjacent apartment with an older man, Thomas. Abby is seemingly the same age as Owen but reveals she has been 12 for a very long time. She instructs Owen that they cannot be friends until he asks her properly, a condition he soon meets.
Thomas, Abby's familiar, is responsible for procuring human blood to sustain her. When he fails and is eventually incapacitated, Abby is forced to hunt on her own, leading to a series of violent and bloody encounters that draw police attention. Owen slowly pieces together Abby's true nature, witnessing her supernatural strength and realizing the extent of her need for blood. Despite the horrific implications, Owen's loneliness and his deep emotional connection to Abby lead him to accept her for who she is, even helping her conceal her activities at one point.
The film culminates in a brutal attack on Owen by his bullies at the local swimming pool. Just as he is about to drown, Abby intervenes with savage efficiency, dismembering and decapitating his attackers. In the aftermath, Owen is seen on a train, tapping out "kiss" in Morse code to a large trunk beside him, implying Abby is inside and they are leaving town together, forever bound by their unusual and dangerous companionship.
