Plot:

Rosie Dunne and Alex Stewart have been inseparable since they were five years old, dreaming of leaving their small Irish town for a future together in America. On the night of their high school prom, a series of miscommunications and an unexpected pregnancy for Rosie with another boy, Greg, derails their plans. Alex moves to Boston to study at Harvard, while Rosie stays behind in Ireland to raise her daughter, Katie, sacrificing her own dreams of attending university.

Over the next twelve years, their lives diverge significantly. Alex finds success and enters into serious relationships, eventually marrying Sally.
