Summary

The film centers on Jani, a charming miniature artist, who is madly in love with Bindu. Their burgeoning romance is tragically cut short when Sudeep, a powerful, jealous industrialist who desires Bindu, brutally murders Jani. Driven by unwavering love and a fierce desire for revenge, Jani is immediately reincarnated as a tiny housefly. Retaining all of his human memories and emotions, the minuscule hero embarks on an impossible mission to protect Bindu, thwart Sudeep's nefarious plans, and meticulously torment the villain, leading to a spectacular, high-stakes battle between a man and a fly.

Plot

Makkhi (or Eega) is a unique cinematic blend of revenge, romance, and fantasy. The story introduces Jani (Nani), a young man who works as a miniature artist and harbors a deep, open love for Bindu (Samantha Ruth Prabhu), a micro-artist and social activist. Bindu secretly loves Jani but enjoys teasing him with her playful rejection, keeping him dedicated to his pursuit. Their lives are observed by Sudeep (Sudeep), a charismatic but deeply ruthless and wealthy industrialist who becomes instantly infatuated with Bindu. Seeing her as a prize to be won, Sudeep uses his influence to get close to Bindu under the pretense of funding her NGO work.

As Bindu begins to realize Sudeep's manipulative nature, she finally reciprocates Jani's love. Sudeep witnesses their intimacy and, driven by possessive rage and jealousy, decides Jani is an obstacle to be eliminated. In a dark, calculated sequence, Sudeep ambushes Jani and brutally murders him, ensuring the death appears to be a random accident. As Jani dies, he sees Sudeep gloat and swears revenge with his last breath.

Immediately, Jani is reborn as a housefly. This reincarnated fly is extraordinary, as it retains all of Jani's memories, consciousness, and emotional connection to Bindu. The fly's primary motivations are two-fold: to protect Bindu from Sudeep and to exact revenge on its killer.

Initially, the fly struggles to communicate, but through specific actions, like rearranging objects to form Jani's name and creating miniature soot writings, the fly manages to convince Bindu of its true identity. Bindu, now a silent partner in the revenge mission, aids the fly. The fly begins its campaign of psychological warfare and physical torment against Sudeep. The revenge is strategic and cumulative: the fly constantly buzzes around Sudeep, disrupts his important business meetings, contaminates his food and drinks, and causes him constant sleepless nights. The constant harassment, particularly a persistent buzzing during a drive, leads to a car accident that nearly exposes Sudeep's corruption.

Sudeep, initially brushing off the disturbances as bad luck, gradually descends into obsessive paranoia, realizing the fly is deliberately targeting him. His calm facade cracks as he recognizes the intelligence behind the attacks. He hires experts, including a scientist specializing in insect behavior, to eliminate the fly.

The confrontation escalates dramatically, turning into a surreal cat-and-mouse game. Sudeep attempts to crush the fly with extreme measures, including using high-tech traps and even a miniature cannon. The final, spectacular showdown occurs in Sudeep's fortified house. The fly, using its tiny size and agility, evades Sudeep's increasingly desperate attacks, culminating in a fierce struggle during which the fly, though fatally wounded, manages to orchestrate Sudeep's gruesome death. The fly, having sacrificed itself to ensure justice, dies shortly after witnessing its revenge complete. The film concludes on a heartwarming note, showing the fly being reincarnated once more, ready to continue its life with Bindu.
