This constant interference had created a rift in their marriage, leaving Ian feeling suffocated and yearning for some semblance of normalcy.
Meanwhile, Gus, convinced he was a direct descendant of Alexander the Great, decided to delve into his family history. He ordered a DNA test from an ancestry website, eager for confirmation of his noble lineage. While sifting through old documents, he made a startling discovery: his marriage certificate to Maria, his wife of fifty years, had never been properly signed by the priest. Panic ensued.
Gus, adamant about rectifying this oversight, insisted on a second wedding ceremony. Maria, however, demanded a proper proposal, refusing to simply comply with his wishes. After much cajoling, Gus finally relented, much to Maria's delight.

To celebrate, Paris asked Bennett, a charming young man she had a crush on, to the prom. The catch? The prom was scheduled for the same night as her parents' wedding. Toula, after much negotiation, reluctantly agreed, allowing Paris to attend the prom as long as she joined the reception later.
The wedding day arrived, fraught with the usual Portokalos chaos. Gus, after indulging in numerous shots of ouzo with his brother, Panos, arrived at the church in a state of mild inebriation. Maria, witnessing his boisterous behavior, stormed off to the vestry, feeling deeply hurt and disappointed.
However, Panos, sensing the tension, intervened. He revealed to Maria that Gus, despite his outward bravado, had confided in him about his deep and enduring love for her. Touched by his sincerity, Maria agreed to proceed with the ceremony.
The wedding was a joyous occasion, filled with laughter, tears, and the signature Portokalos brand of boisterous enthusiasm. As Gus and Maria exchanged vows, Ian and Toula shared a private moment, renewing their own commitment to each other.
