Pandi revealed that after trying to seek refuge in London as a Sri Lankan refugee he was deported to Sri Lanka and tortured by prison authorities, and humiliated by recent events, he returned to his village.

Gandhi goes to the regional passport office in Chennai and confesses his crime to the regional passport officer. The passport officer asked him to pay a fine of ₹1,300 (equivalent to ₹1,900 or US$23 in 2023) to remove Karmaghakuzhali's name from his passport. But in a last-minute decision, Gandhi decided not to remove Karmeghakuzhali's name from her passport and instead proposed marriage to Karmeghakuzhali, who was initially surprised, but agreed. He soon obtains a British visa and leaves for London with the rest of the Stray Factory troupe.
