Summary:

In this fantasy adventure sequel, Percy Jackson, the demigod son of Poseidon, finds his safe haven, Camp Half-Blood, under threat when the magical borders protecting it are poisoned. Plot:

Years after discovering his demigod heritage, Percy Jackson is living a relatively normal life at Camp Half-Blood, though he grapples with feelings of inadequacy compared to other powerful demigods. His newfound peace is shattered when Thalia's tree, which forms the magical barrier protecting the camp, is poisoned by an unknown assailant, rendering the camp vulnerable to attack. Chiron reveals that only the legendary Golden Fleece, located in the Sea of Monsters, can heal the tree and save their sanctuary.

Despite being forbidden from undertaking the quest by Tantalus, the interim camp director, Percy and his friends Annabeth Chase, Grover Underwood, and his newly discovered cyclops half-brother Tyson, secretly set out to find the Fleece. They learn that Luke Castellan, son of Hermes and former friend, is also after the Fleece, not to save the camp, but to resurrect the ancient titan Kronos. Their journey takes them through dangerous waters, where they encounter various mythological creatures, including the Charybdis, Scylla, and the Sirens, and eventually to Polyphemus's island where the Fleece is guarded, and where Grover has been captured.

After a climactic battle against Luke and Polyphemus, Percy and his friends retrieve the Golden Fleece and return to Camp Half-Blood, using its restorative power to heal Thalia's tree. The Fleece's magic is so potent that it not only restores the tree but also fully revives Thalia Grace, daughter of Zeus, who had been turned into the tree years prior. This unexpected turn of events sets the stage for future challenges to the demigod world.
