Pogaru (2021)
Summary:
Pogaru is a 2021 Indian Kannada-language action drama film directed by Nanda Kishore and starring Dhruva Sarja in the lead role. The film is built around a revenge-driven narrative that combines intense action, emotional depth, and social commentary. Known for its powerful fight scenes, aggressive screen presence of the lead actor, and high-energy music, Pogaru presents the transformation of a man shaped by pain, violence, and a strong sense of justice. The film explores themes such as injustice, corruption, family bonds, and redemption, making it a commercial entertainer with an emotional core.
Plot:
Pogaru follows the journey of a young boy whose life changes forever after witnessing the brutal murder of his father. His father is an honest and kind man who stands up against injustice in the village and helps the weak. Because of his courage, he becomes a target of ruthless and corrupt people. When he is killed in front of his son, the boy’s innocent world is shattered. The trauma of this incident leaves a deep scar on his mind and heart, shaping his personality for the rest of his life.
As years pass, the boy grows into a strong, fearless, and aggressive man. The pain of his father’s death turns into burning anger. He becomes someone who cannot tolerate injustice in any form. Wherever he goes, he sees the same cruelty, abuse, and corruption that once destroyed his family. Instead of walking away, he chooses to fight. His methods are violent and extreme, but his intentions are driven by a deep desire to protect the innocent.
In the city, he becomes known for his brutal ways of dealing with criminals. Some people fear him, while others see him as their only hope. He does not follow rules or systems, because he believes the system itself is corrupt. His life becomes a constant battle between good and evil, right and wrong, and love and hate. His aggression gives him the name “Pogaru,” which refers to his fierce, rebellious, and fearless nature.
During this time, he meets a young woman who slowly brings a change in him. She sees the loneliness and pain behind his violent personality. Her presence softens him and reminds him that life can still be peaceful and meaningful. He begins to imagine a future that is not filled with blood and revenge.
However, his past refuses to let him go. The main villain of the story is a powerful and dangerous man who is deeply connected to the crimes that destroyed his family. This man is protected by his influence, money, and political power. When the connections between the villain and his father’s murder are revealed, his fight turns into a personal war.
He decides not only to take revenge for his father but also to expose and destroy the entire criminal network that has been terrorizing innocent people for years. The story builds toward a series of violent confrontations where emotions, action, and truth collide. In the climax, he finally faces the man who is responsible for his suffering, leading to an intense and dramatic showdown.
In the end, Pogaru is not just about violence. It shows the emotional journey of a man who is broken by the past and struggles to find peace. The film delivers the message that justice may be delayed, but it cannot be denied, and that even the most aggressive heart can carry deep love and humanity within it.
