Plot:

The story begins with a Temporal Agent (Ethan Hawke) attempting to defuse a bomb and apprehend the "Fizzle Bomber." He is severely disfigured during the attempt but is rescued and rebuilt with a new face and identity. His final mission is to travel back to 1970 New York City to prevent a future bombing by the same terrorist. While undercover as a bartender, he encounters a mysterious man known as "The Unmarried Mother" (Sarah Snook), who begins to recount an extraordinary and tragic life story.

The Unmarried Mother, born Jane, was an orphan raised to be an astronaut, only to be disqualified due to an unplanned pregnancy. After giving birth, her baby was stolen, and she underwent a sex change operation due to medical complications. Now living as John, he tells the Agent of his past, revealing a series of interconnected events and manipulations by a shadowy organization. As John's story unfolds, the Agent realizes the profound and self-fulfilling prophecy at its core, leading to a startling revelation about the true identities of Jane, John, the Agent, and even the Fizzle Bomber, all trapped in an inescapable temporal loop.
