Ramayya Vasthavayya (2013)
Summary:
Ramayya Vasthavayya is an action drama with a blend of college romance and intense revenge. The film initially follows Nandu, a cheerful and playful student, who successfully woos Akarsha. However, a major plot twist reveals that Nandu is, in fact, Ramu, an ex-villager whose family and love interest, Ammulu, were brutally murdered by a powerful politician and his goons during a land dispute. The story then transitions into a high-stakes action thriller as Ramu executes a carefully planned mission to hunt down the ruthless criminals and seek vengeance.
Detailed Plot (Movie Story):
The first half of the film is set in a vibrant city environment, where Nandu (N. T. Rama Rao Jr.) is an enthusiastic college-goer who relentlessly pursues Akarsha (Samantha Ruth Prabhu). He manages to win her heart with charm and clever antics. The couple, along with Akarsha's family, attends a wedding in a village, where the true nature of Nandu is revealed.
During the wedding, an assassination attempt is made on the bride's father, Nagabhushanam (Mukesh Rishi). Nandu saves him, only to later kill him himself, revealing his secret identity as Ramu and a deeper connection to the village.
Ramu then reveals his past to a terrified Akarsha. His real name is Ramu, and he lived a simple life in Adityapuram village, deeply in love with Ammulu (Shruti Haasan). The village's tranquility was destroyed by three powerful villains—Nagabhushanam, Home Minister Umapathi, and his sadistic son, Bhikshapathi (P. Ravi Shankar)—who wanted to grab the fertile land. When Bhikshapathi molested Ammulu, Ramu attacked him. In retaliation, the villains orchestrated a horrific attack on Ramu’s family and his fiancée, Ammulu, killing them all.
Ramu escaped the massacre and swore revenge. He spent years planning, adopting the persona of Nandu to infiltrate the lives of his enemies. The rest of the film is a taut revenge saga, with Ramu cleverly luring his targets one by one. The climax sees Ramu, no longer bound by his hidden identity, brutally murdering the main villains and restoring justice to his ancestral village. The film ends on an emotional note, with Akarsha understanding and supporting Ramu's mission, joining him to help the villagers.
