Plot:

Shekhar Subramaniam is a brilliant but eccentric video game designer living in London with his wife Sonia and his son Prateek. Shekhar is often at odds with Prateek, who finds his father's attempts to be "cool" embarrassing and prefers the morally ambiguous villains in video games over traditional heroes. Prateek, an avid gamer, goes by the online alias 'Lucifer' and expresses his desire for a game where the villain is more powerful and exciting than the hero. Driven by a wish to connect with his son, Shekhar, along with his colleague Jenny Nayar, develops a new virtual reality game for the company 'Baron Industries'. In this game, the antagonist, Ra.One (Random Access - Version One), is designed to be virtually invincible, capable of taking any form and adapting to any challenge, while the protagonist, G.One (Good One), is a more traditional, noble hero, though initially less powerful.

The game's core mechanic involves a device called a 'H.A.R.T.' (Hertz Amplifying Resonance Transmitter), which is the source of power for both characters. Ra.One's objective is to reach and destroy the H.A.R.T. of the player, while G.One's mission is to protect it. The game is launched to great fanfare, and Prateek is among the first to play it. As 'Lucifer', Prateek quickly becomes the top player, constantly challenging and defeating Ra.One. However, during one intense session, a technical glitch occurs. The powerful server processing the game experiences an overload, causing Ra.One to become self-aware and escape the digital world into the real world. Sonia is initially shocked and then suspicious, believing G.One to be an impostor or a manifestation of her grief. Prateek, however, quickly recognizes G.One as the game's hero. G.One's artificial intelligence struggles to comprehend human emotions and social norms, leading to several humorous and awkward situations as he tries to blend in. He possesses superhuman strength, agility, and the ability to generate energy blasts, but his power is tied to the H.A.R.T. embedded in his chest. Ra.One, meanwhile, has taken on the human form of a sinister-looking man (Arjun Rampal) and continues his hunt for Prateek, manipulating situations and causing chaos wherever he goes. He desires to merge with the game's server, which would make him truly invincible and allow him to control all digital networks.

The conflict escalates as Ra.One orchestrates various attacks on Prateek, forcing G.One to intervene. In one harrowing sequence, Ra.One traps Prateek and Sonia in a collapsing building, testing G.One's abilities and forcing him to make difficult choices. G.One, with Prateek's guidance and understanding of the game's rules, begins to adapt and learn about humanity. He starts to develop a semblance of emotions, particularly a protective bond with Prateek and Sonia. Sonia, initially wary, slowly begins to accept G.One, seeing glimpses of Shekhar's selflessness in him, and realizing that he is their only hope. The chase leads them across London, with spectacular action sequences involving car chases, explosions, and digital manipulation by Ra.One.

Ra.One's ultimate plan is revealed: he intends to activate the game's main server, located in Mumbai, during a major event, allowing him to achieve full control and become a global threat. G.One and Prateek, with Sonia's support, travel to Mumbai to confront Ra.One. The climax takes place at a massive train yard, where Ra.One initiates his final, devastating attack. He creates multiple digital clones of himself, making it difficult for G.One to distinguish the real one. The battle is fierce, with G.One using all his powers and tactical knowledge, aided by Prateek's insights into the game's mechanics and Ra.One's vulnerabilities. Prateek, now matured by his experiences, finds a new appreciation for heroes. In a poignant epilogue, Prateek, playing the game one last time, finds a piece of G.One's H.A.R.T., implying that a part of him might still exist, waiting to be reactivated, leaving a glimmer of hope for the hero's return.
