However, a significant obstacle stands in his way – the Dreyfus Act. This piece of legislation prohibits the deployment of militarized drones within the United States, a reflection of widespread public apprehension about the potential dangers of autonomous weapons systems operating in their communities.

Undeterred by this legislative hurdle, Sellars tasks Dr. Dennett Norton, OmniCorp's brilliant but ethically conflicted lead scientist, and his dedicated research team with a daunting challenge: to develop an alternative solution that would circumvent the restrictions of the Dreyfus Act. Fate intervenes in the form of Alex Murphy, a dedicated and highly skilled Detroit police detective. Murphy is a man of integrity, known for his unwavering commitment to justice and his relentless pursuit of criminals. He is deeply respected by his colleagues and fiercely loved by his wife, Clara, and their young son, David. Murphy's life takes a tragic turn when he becomes the target of a brutal attack. Antoine Vallon, a notorious and ruthless crime boss, orchestrates a devastating car-bomb explosion as an act of revenge for Murphy's relentless investigation into his criminal operations. Murphy is critically injured in the blast, his body shattered and his chances of survival deemed slim.

Faced with this desperate situation, Norton sees an opportunity.
