Plot Details

The film begins a few years after the conclusion of the Sex and the City television series.

• Carrie and Big: Carrie Bradshaw and John James "Mr. Big" Preston are in a committed relationship and decide to move in together. They find a luxurious penthouse, and Big agrees to buy it. However, Carrie, a successful writer, grapples with concerns about her financial independence and lack of legal rights within the relationship, which leads to the suggestion of marriage. As the wedding plans escalate, Carrie gets caught up in the excitement, especially after being offered a photoshoot in Vogue wearing various designer wedding gowns. The scale of the wedding overwhelms Big, who has been married twice before, causing him to become increasingly anxious.

• Miranda and Steve: Miranda Hobbes is facing challenges in her marriage to Steve Brady. The demands of their careers and raising their son, Brady, have taken a toll on their intimacy. When Steve confesses to a one-time affair, Miranda is devastated and ends the relationship. Her pain and anger inadvertently cast a shadow over Carrie's wedding preparations.

• Charlotte and Harry: Charlotte York Goldenblatt and Harry Goldenblatt are happily married and have adopted a daughter, Lily. Charlotte finally becomes pregnant, fulfilling her long-held dream of motherhood. Throughout her pregnancy, she is anxious about potential complications.

• Samantha and Smith: Samantha Jones has relocated her public relations business to Los Angeles to be closer to her boyfriend, Smith Jerrod, whose acting career is thriving. However, she finds herself increasingly dissatisfied with the constraints of a monogamous relationship and longs for the excitement and freedom of her former life. She develops an attraction to her neighbor, Dante, and ultimately realizes she needs to end her relationship with Smith.

These emails contain famous love letters and an original letter from Big expressing his remorse and enduring love.

Carrie goes to the penthouse to retrieve a pair of Manolo Blahnik shoes and finds Big there. They reconcile, reaffirm their love, and decide to have a small, intimate wedding at City Hall. Their friends, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha, join them to celebrate. The film concludes with the four friends toasting Samantha's 50th birthday and their enduring friendship.
