Summary:

Bob Lee Swagger, a former Marine Corps sniper living in self-imposed exile, is reluctantly recruited by a mysterious colonel to help thwart a presidential assassination plot. Swagger, an expert marksman, is tasked with identifying potential sniper locations and scenarios. Plot:

Bob Lee Swagger, a decorated Marine sniper, is living a secluded life in the mountains after a mission in Ethiopia went awry, resulting in the death of his spotter. He is approached by Colonel Isaac Johnson, a mysterious operative, who convinces him to help prevent an assassination attempt on the President. Swagger, using his unparalleled expertise, identifies the most probable location and method for the attack. On the day of the planned assassination, Swagger is at a designated observation point, but a different target – an Ethiopian archbishop – is shot, and Swagger is wounded and framed as the assassin.

On the run, Swagger is pursued by the FBI, led by Agent Nick Memphis, who initially believes him to be guilty. Swagger eventually escapes and seeks refuge with Sarah Fenn, the widow of his former spotter. Together, and with Memphis starting to doubt the official narrative, they begin to uncover a deep-seated conspiracy involving powerful government figures, private military contractors, and a senator. Swagger meticulously gathers evidence, using his tactical skills to outmaneuver his pursuers and expose the true conspirators, culminating in a violent confrontation to clear his name and bring justice to those who betrayed him.
