SNOWPIERCER (2013)

Summary:

Set in a post-apocalyptic future where a failed climate change experiment has killed off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snowpiercer, a massive train that travels the globe on a perpetual motion track. Plot:

In 2014, an attempt to counteract global warming inadvertently triggers a new ice age, rendering Earth uninhabitable. The last remnants of humanity survive aboard the Snowpiercer, a massive train powered by a perpetual motion engine, endlessly circling the frozen planet. By 2031, the train has become a self-contained society with a rigid class system: the wealthy and privileged reside in the opulent front cars, while the poor and exploited are confined to the squalid tail section.

Seventeen years into the journey, Curtis Everett, a hardened leader from the tail section, orchestrates a violent rebellion with the guidance of the elder Gilliam. Their goal is to fight their way through each car, overcoming the train's security forces and the various social strata, to reach the engine and confront Wilford, the enigmatic inventor and absolute ruler of the Snowpiercer. As they advance, they uncover the dark truths about the train's ecosystem and the true nature of their existence, forcing Curtis to make difficult choices that challenge his perception of justice and survival.
