Summary:

Retired psychic doctor John Clancy is reluctantly drawn back into the world of crime-solving by his former colleague, FBI agent Joe Merriwether, and his ambitious partner, Agent Katherine Cowles. They need his unique abilities to track down a cunning serial killer whose victims appear to have no connection. Clancy's visions reveal unsettling clues, but the case takes a darker turn when he realizes the killer also possesses extraordinary psychic powers.

What ensues is a high-stakes cat-and-mouse game between two powerful psychics, one trying to stop the murders and the other seemingly always one step ahead. Plot:

Dr. John Clancy, a reclusive and grieving psychic, is approached by FBI agent Joe Merriwether, a former colleague, to assist in a baffling serial killer case. Merriwether's partner, Agent Katherine Cowles, is initially skeptical of Clancy's abilities. Clancy's visions, though fragmented and disturbing, begin to reveal patterns in the seemingly random murders. He discovers that the killer selects victims who are suffering from terminal illnesses, leading the FBI to initially suspect a mercy killer.

As Clancy delves deeper, he realizes the killer, Charles Ambrose, is also a powerful psychic, specifically a precognitive, allowing him to see the future and anticipate the FBI's actions. Ambrose challenges Clancy directly, setting up elaborate traps and leaving cryptic messages. Ambrose claims he is performing a form of euthanasia, saving his victims from prolonged suffering, but Clancy's visions hint at a more complex and personal motivation rooted in Ambrose's own past and his nihilistic view of humanity. The climax builds to a tense confrontation where Clancy must use his unique psychic connection to Ambrose to outmaneuver him and prevent further deaths, forcing him to confront the moral ambiguities of life, death, and free will.
