Plot:

The film opens in Mexico City during the Day of the Dead festival. James Bond, acting on a cryptic message, pursues a terrorist named Marco Sciarra. After a thrilling rooftop chase, Bond kills Sciarra and detonates a bomb, causing a building to collapse. He escapes via helicopter, though M (Gareth Mallory) is furious at his unauthorized mission and grounds him. Back in London, Bond receives a posthumous video message from the previous M (Judi Dench), instructing him to find Sciarra, kill him, and attend his funeral, where he is to look for a specific individual. Meanwhile, M is battling Max Denbigh, the head of the new Joint Intelligence Service, who champions the "Nine Eyes" global surveillance initiative and seeks to merge MI5 and MI6, effectively disbanding the 00-section.

Bond travels to Rome for Sciarra's funeral. He seduces Sciarra's widow, Lucia, who reveals that her husband was part of a powerful, clandestine organization. There, he finds Mr. White, a former Quantum operative, dying of thallium poisoning. White reveals that he made a deal with Blofeld to protect his daughter, Dr. Madeleine Swann, who works at the clinic. White, recognizing Bond's sincerity, asks him to protect Madeleine in exchange for information leading to Blofeld. Bond meets Madeleine, who is initially hostile and distrustful, blaming Bond for her father's criminal life. Their tense encounter is interrupted by Hinx and his men, who attack the clinic. Bond and Madeleine escape in a plane and then a Land Rover, narrowly evading capture in a thrilling pursuit through the snowy mountains.

Madeleine, now reluctantly allied with Bond, takes him to a secret hotel room in Tangier, revealing coordinates to a hidden base in the desert. Blofeld tortures Bond, attempting to erase his memories through psychological manipulation and physical pain, while Madeleine manages to escape. She attempts to rescue Bond, but they are both captured again. Back in London, M, Moneypenny, and Q discover that C (Max Denbigh) is secretly working with Blofeld, orchestrating the "Nine Eyes" system to benefit Spectre. They race against time to expose C and prevent the system from going online. Bond, having been fitted with a microchip that allows Blofeld to track him, manages to escape Blofeld's clutches with Madeleine. They return to London, where Blofeld has set a final trap.

Blofeld reveals he has planted bombs across London, intending to kill Bond and Madeleine and frame Bond for the destruction. He gives Bond a choice: save Madeleine or save himself. Bond escapes the collapsing MI6 building, pursuing Blofeld's car across Westminster Bridge. Blofeld's car crashes, and he flees into the abandoned, structurally unsound MI6 building. Bond follows, navigating a maze of memories and traps, confronting the ghosts of his past that Blofeld has orchestrated. He finds Madeleine, who is strapped to a bomb with a timer counting down. Bond manages to save her just as the building begins to crumble around them. Blofeld attempts to escape by boat on the Thames. Bond, in a final confrontation, shoots down Blofeld's helicopter on Westminster Bridge. Blofeld is captured, his grand scheme thwarted.

Bond then retrieves his restored Aston Martin DB5, and with Madeleine Swann by his side, drives away, seemingly leaving his life as a secret agent behind him. The film concludes with a sense of both closure and a new beginning for James Bond, as he chooses love over duty, at least for now.
