Plot:

The film opens in 1986 in Compton, California, introducing the five core members of N.W.A. Eric "Eazy-E" Wright is a drug dealer looking for a way out, while Andre "Dr. Dre" Young is an aspiring DJ and producer, frustrated with his current gig. O'Shea "Ice Cube" Jackson is a talented lyricist, constantly writing in his notebook. Lorenzo "MC Ren" Patterson and Antoine "DJ Yella" Carraby complete the initial lineup. Dre and Cube are keen to produce a demo, but lack the funds. Eazy-E, despite his initial reluctance to rap, is convinced by Dre to invest his drug money into their new label, Ruthless Records, and record the track "Boyz-n-the-Hood."
