TANGLED (2010)

Summary:

Tangled is a vibrant animated musical adventure from Walt Disney Animation Studios, reimagining the classic German fairy tale of Rapunzel. The story follows Rapunzel, a spirited princess with incredibly long, magical golden hair, who has been held captive in a secluded tower for eighteen years by the manipulative Mother Gothel. Rapunzel yearns to see the mysterious "floating lights" that appear every year on her birthday, unaware of their true significance.

Her isolated world is turned upside down when Flynn Rider, a charming bandit on the run, stumbles upon her tower. Rapunzel strikes a deal with Flynn: he'll escort her to see the lights, and she'll return his stolen satchel. Their journey together is filled with daring escapes, comical encounters with pub thugs, a determined palace horse named Maximus, and the blossoming of an unexpected romance, all while Mother Gothel relentlessly pursues them to maintain her secret.

Plot:

Centuries ago, a drop of sunlight falls to Earth, growing into a magical golden flower with healing powers. An old woman, Mother Gothel, uses it to maintain her youth. When the pregnant Queen of Corona falls ill, the flower is used to heal her, resulting in the birth of Princess Rapunzel, whose golden hair now possesses the flower's magic. To retain her youth, Gothel kidnaps the infant Rapunzel and raises her in a hidden tower, warning her of the dangers of the outside world.

On the eve of her eighteenth birthday, Rapunzel yearns to see the "floating lights" that her parents, the King and Queen, release annually in hopes of their daughter's return. Meanwhile, notorious thief Flynn Rider steals Rapunzel's royal tiara and flees from the palace guards and the determined horse Maximus. He discovers Rapunzel's tower, where she knocks him unconscious. Rapunzel hides the tiara and makes a deal with Flynn: if he takes her to see the lights, she will return his satchel. Their adventure leads them through the Snuggly Duckling pub, where they befriend a group of fearsome but secretly artistic thugs, and evade Gothel's traps. Rapunzel and Flynn fall in love, and she eventually discovers her true identity as the lost princess, leading to a final confrontation with Gothel, Flynn's near-fatal sacrifice, and Rapunzel's healing tears, which restore Flynn and finally reunite her with her royal family.
