Summary:

As a lonely child, John Bennett's wish brings his teddy bear, Ted, to life. Years later, Ted is a foul-mouthed, cannabis-smoking slacker who lives with John. Their bromance is tested when John's girlfriend, Lori, pressures him to make Ted move out so they can move forward with their relationship.

John finds himself caught between his lifelong best friend and the woman he loves, leading to a series of hilarious and heartfelt challenges as he tries to navigate adulthood while still holding onto his unique companion.

Plot:

In 1985 Boston, eight-year-old John Bennett, an only child, wishes for his new Christmas teddy bear, Ted, to come to life and be his best friend forever. The wish comes true, making Ted a temporary celebrity. Twenty-seven years later, John and Ted still live together in Boston, their days filled with smoking weed, watching Flash Gordon, and avoiding responsibilities. This lifestyle deeply frustrates John's long-term girlfriend, Lori Collins, who feels their relationship cannot progress with Ted constantly around.

Lori eventually gives John an ultimatum: Ted must move out. Ted reluctantly gets his own apartment and a job at a grocery store, but his irresponsible behavior continues to interfere with John and Lori's relationship, leading to a major fight. John must decide if he can truly grow up and commit to Lori while still having Ted in his life. The plot escalates with various comedic mishaps, including Ted's brief music career, his dating life, and a dramatic confrontation with Donny, a creepy fan who has stalked Ted since childhood and attempts to kidnap him.
