TED 2 (2015)
Summary:
Ted, a sentient teddy bear, and his new wife Tami-Lynn face a major hurdle when their desire to adopt a child is denied because the state does not recognize Ted as a person. This ruling strips Ted of his civil rights and nullifies his marriage, forcing him to embark on a legal battle to prove his personhood in court, with the help of his best friend John and a young, cannabis-loving lawyer.
The film follows Ted's comedic and heartfelt journey to reclaim his rights, exploring themes of identity, civil liberties, and the true meaning of being human, all while navigating a series of absurd situations and facing off against old adversaries.

Plot:
One year after their wedding, Ted and Tami-Lynn are struggling with their marriage. To save it, they decide to have a baby. After unsuccessful attempts at artificial insemination and finding a sperm donor, they decide to adopt. However, their application is rejected when the state of Massachusetts declares Ted to be property rather than a person. This ruling not only prevents them from adopting but also nullifies Ted's marriage and strips him of all civil rights.
Devastated, Ted and John seek legal counsel and find Samantha Leslie Jackson, a young, inexperienced but enthusiastic lawyer. Together, they prepare for a court case to prove Ted's personhood. The trial is challenging, with the prosecution arguing that Ted is merely a toy, while Samantha highlights his emotional capacity, friendships, and employment history. During the proceedings, Ted's former stalker, Donny, who is now a janitor at Hasbro, conspires to kidnap Ted for the company to reverse-engineer him. The climax occurs at New York Comic-Con, where Donny attempts to abduct Ted, leading to a dramatic confrontation. Ultimately, after a near-fatal incident and a powerful testimony from Samantha, Ted's case is reviewed by a higher court, leading to a ruling that affirms his status as a person with full civil rights.
