Plot:
The film opens with Adaline Bowman, a woman who has not aged a day since 1937, preparing to move and assume a new identity. Through flashbacks, her unique story is revealed: born in 1908, she married and had a daughter, Flemming. In 1937, after her car crashes into a lake and she drowns, a lightning strike revives her, and from that moment on, she ceases to age. Fearing scientific examination and a life as an anomaly, Adaline decides to live on the run, changing her name and location every decade, maintaining a safe distance from everyone, including her own daughter who ages normally.
In her current identity as "Jenny Larson," Adaline works at a San Francisco library. She meets Ellis Jones, a charming and persistent man who is drawn to her unique wisdom and beauty. Despite her efforts to keep him at arm's length, Ellis gradually breaks through her emotional barriers. A weekend trip to celebrate Ellis's parents' 40th wedding anniversary brings Adaline face-to-face with Ellis's father, William, who immediately recognizes her as a woman he loved decades ago. This reunion forces Adaline to confront her past, the profound impact of her agelessness on those she loves, and the possibility of a future where she might finally choose to stop running.
