Plot:
The film opens introducing Michelle Darnell, a cutthroat businesswoman who built an empire from nothing. Her aggressive tactics lead to her arrest and conviction for insider trading. After serving her time, Michelle emerges from prison to find her assets frozen and her reputation ruined. With nowhere to go, she reluctantly seeks refuge with her former assistant, Claire Rawlings, a single mother struggling to make ends meet, who lives with her daughter, Rachel.
Michelle initially struggles to adjust to normal life and attempts various unsuccessful schemes to regain her fortune. One evening, she observes Rachel selling Dandelion Girls cookies and is inspired by the concept. Michelle decides to start her own business, "Darnell's Darlings," a brownie empire, using Claire's homemade brownie recipe and recruiting a group of girls who were rejected from the Dandelion Girls troop. Michelle applies her characteristic cutthroat business strategies to the brownie sales, turning the young girls into aggressive salespersons and quickly achieving success.
However, Michelle's past comes back to haunt her in the form of her former mentor and lover, Ronald Duncan (now known as Renault), who attempts to steal her business idea and sabotage her. As the Darnell's Darlings empire grows, Michelle's old habits of prioritizing profit over people resurface, causing a rift with Claire and Rachel. Through a series of chaotic events and confrontations with Renault, Michelle is forced to confront her loneliness and realize the true value of the family and friendships she has inadvertently built, ultimately choosing loyalty and love over pure financial gain.
