Plot:
Aspiring journalist Andy Sachs lands a job that "a million girls would kill for": junior assistant to Miranda Priestly, the icy and influential editor of Runway magazine. Despite her lack of interest in fashion, Andy hopes to gain experience for her career. She quickly discovers Miranda's office is a high-pressure, emotionally abusive environment where impossible tasks are routine and personal lives are non-existent. She frequently clashes with the senior assistant, Emily Charlton, and struggles to meet Miranda's exacting standards, often feeling out of place among the stylish staff.
As Andy tries to survive, she receives guidance from the magazine's art director, Nigel, who helps her understand the importance of fashion and how to dress the part. Gradually, Andy begins to embrace the fashion world, transforming her appearance and dedicating herself entirely to Miranda's whims. This professional success, however, comes at a significant personal cost, straining her relationships with her boyfriend Nate and her friends. A pivotal trip to Paris with Miranda forces Andy to confront the moral compromises she's made and the person she's become, leading her to make a life-altering decision about her future and her values, ultimately walking away from the glamorous but toxic world of Runway.
