Summary:

Plot:

The film opens with the Peterson family grieving the loss of their eldest son, Caleb, who was killed in action in Afghanistan. Shortly after, a charming and polite man named David Collins arrives at their doorstep, claiming to be Caleb's best friend and having promised to look after his family. He quickly wins over Laura and Spencer, the parents, and their younger son, Luke, by offering help and protection. David assists Spencer with a work issue, protects Luke from bullies, and charms Laura, but the skeptical daughter, Anna, remains wary.

As David's stay extends, Anna's suspicions grow. She tries to verify his identity but finds inconsistencies. After a series of violent incidents, including the deaths of several people connected to the family, Anna discovers that the real David Collins died in a fire and the man in their home is an escaped subject from a highly classified military program involving enhanced soldiers. The military, led by Major Carver, is actively hunting him down, having deemed him a dangerous asset.

The situation escalates into a brutal confrontation at a Halloween school dance, where David, having eliminated anyone who could expose him, including the rest of the Peterson family save Anna and Luke, pursues the siblings. Anna and Luke are forced to fight for their lives against the seemingly unstoppable David. In a climactic showdown, they manage to severely wound him, though his ultimate fate is left ambiguous, hinting at his superhuman resilience.
