Summary:

Set in turn-of-the-century Vienna, "The Illusionist" tells the story of Eisenheim, a mysterious magician who captivates audiences with his seemingly supernatural feats. His return to his hometown reignites a forbidden romance from his youth.

He rekindles his love with Duchess Sophie von Teschen, who is engaged to the powerful and volatile Crown Prince Leopold. This dangerous liaison leads to a clash of wills, a police investigation led by Chief Inspector Uhl, and a grand, elaborate game of illusion and power, where nothing is quite as it seems.
