Plot:

The Bennett family – Henry, Maria, and their three sons Lucas, Thomas, and Simon – are enjoying their Christmas vacation at a resort in Khao Lak, Thailand. On December 26, 2004, their peaceful morning is brutally interrupted by the arrival of the Indian Ocean tsunami. Maria and eldest son Lucas are swept away in the torrent, miraculously surviving but Maria sustains severe injuries. They cling to life and each other, trying to navigate the debris-filled landscape to find help.

Meanwhile, Henry and the younger boys, Thomas and Simon, are also caught in the wave but manage to stay together. Believing Maria and Lucas to be lost, Henry focuses on protecting his remaining sons while desperately searching for any sign of his wife and eldest child. The film masterfully interweaves their separate struggles, depicting the raw fear, the physical and emotional toll, and the incredible determination of each family member to survive and, against all odds, find their way back to one another amidst the overwhelming devastation and countless other victims.
